Louisville, Ky. - SSophomore Katie Petrino qualified for the US Women's Amateur this week in Kansas. Petrino will compete in the event Aug. 6-12 at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Senior Candice Wiley makes it to the USGA Women's Public Links Tournament.
Petrino qualified at Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. With 35 people trying to qualify for four spots, she finished tied second. Petrino shot a 71 in the round, finishing the round at even par.
Earlier this summer senior Wiley qualified for the USGA Women's Public Links Tournament at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, New Jersey June 18-23. Wiley finished tied at 97th with a score of 153 and did not make the 64 player cut for match play.
Wiley qualified at Twin Base Golf Club in Dayton, Ohio, shooting four over par at 78. She won a playoff to become the last qualifier to advance. She birdied the first hole to win. The Championship will take place on June 18-23.
