
Volleyball Banquet Caps 2011 Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville volleyball team held its first Volleyball Banquet under head coach Anne Kordes on Saturday, Feb. 25 in the PNC Club at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The team reflected on their 24-9 2011 campaign which included a regular-season BIG EAST Championship. The Cardinals capped the season with their 13th straight NCAA Tournament appearance - the 10th longest active streak in the NCAA.
Lola Arslanbekova was named the team's MVP. Arslanbekova was named Volleyball Magazine Second Team All-American in addition to being the BIG EAST Player of the Year. The junior led the team with 4.88 kills per game, a mark which ranked third nationally.
Hannah Kvitle took home both the hustle award and the GPA award. Kvitle red-shirted this past season after transferring from St. Louis University. As a freshman for the Billikens, Kvite was named to the A-10 All Rookie Team and was a two-time rookie of the week.
Denise (Dzik) Ranney was selected as the Alumnae of the Year. Ranney ranks fifth all-time in school history with 274 service aces and 3,462 assists. Her 111 aces in 1984 ranks fourth all-time for most aces in a single season for Louisville volleyball.
Allie Goatley was honored as the Faculty Champion of Louisville Volleyball. Goatley serves as the Assistant Dean for Advising Services in the College of Business.
