
Women's Swimming Finishes Fifth at SMU Classic

The No. 24 University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team closed out the SMU Classic Saturday night at Perkins Natatorium. In the six-team event in which eight swimmers from each team compete in a variety of events - with one swimmer only per `A' and `B' heats - USC finished first with 366 points. North Carolina was second (292.5) and was followed by Florida (289), Texas (268), Louisville (236) and host SMU (209.5).
U of L diver Hannah Gadd won the 3-meter diving, sweeping both boards, this time she had a score of 286.20.
In the 200-medley relay, Eszter Povazsay (26.67), Lucy Kramer (30.58), Tanja Kylliainen (24.51) and Kelsi Worrell (22.75) combined efforts to finish 6th with a time of 1:44.51.
In the 500-free, Victoria Mitchell finished sixth with a time of 4:59.81. Abby Chin placed 10th. In the 200-breast, freshman Lucy Kramer was 6th, with a time of 2:26.40. Teammate Tanja Kylliainen went 2:24.28 in the B-final. Eszter Povazsay was fourth in the 200-back, posting a time of 1:58.95.
In the 100-free, freshman Kelsi Worrell went 50.79 to place 4th in the A-final. Johanna Cowley went 51.88 for 11th.
In the 200-fly, Tanja Kylliainen was third with a time of 1:59.35 in the A-final. Abby Chin was 10th with a time of 2:02.79.
In the 200-IM, Erika Belcher was fifth with a time of 2:05.22 with Victoria Mitchell touching the wall in 2:06.59.
In the final event, Kelsi Worrell (23.18), Eszter Povazsay (23.33), Erika Belcher (24.31), and Hanna Cowley (23.29) placed fifth in the 200-free relay with a 1:34.11.
