LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 19 University of Louisville field hockey team will return to BIG EAST Conference play this weekend when the Cards travel to Storrs, Conn. to face No. 4 Connecticut.
Louisville is led offensively by senior Hayley Turner who has a league-best seven goals, five assists and 19 points on the season. Sophomore Elizabeth Vance stands at second on the team with four goals and 11 points. Junior Erin Conrad carries a 1.27 goals-against average with four shutouts on the season.

Last Meeting: Nov. 6, 2010 - The Huskies defeated the Cards 2-1 in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
Scouting the Huskies: Connecticut enters the week with a 8-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Huskies are coming off of a 4-1 win over Massachusetts on Wednesday. This past weekend, UConn posted a 4-0 win over Providence after suffering its first loss of the season, a 3-1 decision to Boston College.
The Huskies are led by currenty BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Chloe Hunnable's eight goals. Marie Elena Bolles (5G, 10A) leads the team with 20 points. Sarah Mansfield carries a league-best 0.89 goals-against average.
The Deal with the Cards
For the second straight week, Louisville stands at No. 19 in the NFHCA top 20 poll. The Cards re-entered the top 20 at No. 19 after at two-week absence.
Senior Hayley Turner leads the team with seven goals and five assists for 19 points on the season.
The Cards entered the 2011 season at No. 16 in the NFHCA preseason coaches' poll. This marks the ninth straight year that Louisville has appeared in the nation's top 20.
Last Time Out
Louisville snapped a four-game win streak when they fell to No. 5 Syracuse 2-1 in overtime on Friday, Sept. 23. Erin Schneidtmiller put the Cards on the scoreboard early, but the Orange tied the game early in the second half and Leonie Geyer scored the gamewinner with less than a minute remaning in OT.
The Cards fared better against No. 7 New Hampshire on Sunday. Freshman Katlyn Soucy scored a pair of goals and junior Haley Jurich added an insurance goal as the Cards picked up their seventh victory of the season.
Up Next
The Cards will travel to No. 20 Ohio State for a midweek game on Oct. 4. The Buckeyes hold a 15-5 lead in the series with six of the last eight games being decided in overtime. In their most recent matchup, on Sept. 8, 2010 at Trager Stadium, Ohio State won 4-3 in double OT.
Next weekend, Louisville will return to Trager Stadium for the "Pink Game" against BIG EAST foe Rutgers on Oct 8. Fans are encouraged to wear pink as the Cards do their part to promote breast cancer awareness and research. Pink balloons and other merchandise will be sold with all proceeds going to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
Soucy and Conrad Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Freshman Katlyn Soucy scored a pair of goals, including the gamewinner as the Cards upset No. 7 New Hampshire.
Junior goalkeeper Erin Conrad posted 16 saves on the weekend including a career-high 11 in the 2-1 overtime loss to No. 5 Syracuse. She also had five stops in the 3-1 upset of No. 7 New Hampshire.

Senior Hayley Turner now leads the team with seven goals, five assists and 19 points on the season.
She is in fourth place on the school's list for career points with 99 - needing one more to become the fourth player in program history to reach 100 career points. Jessica Javelet holds the record with 189 points.
She is in sole possession of fifth place on the career goals list (35) and needs three more to tie Sherry Effinger's mark of 38. Jessica Javelet holds the record at 69.
Turner is tied for fourth in career assists (29). Turner also tied a school record when she dished out three assists in the 6-0 win over Appalachian State on Sept. 11. Nicole Youman owns the record with 52.
Fountain of Youth
Louisville features a young lineup with five freshmen and one sophomore among its starters. Twelve players - including eight underclassmen - have combined to score Louisville's 30 goals this season. Senior Hayley Turner leads the team with seven goals, five assists and 19 points on the season.
