The No. 15-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will embark on its first road trip of the 2026 season this weekend when the Cardinals head to Saint Louis for a Friday matchup at 11:30 a.m.(ET) followed by a Sunday game at Michigan State at 12 p.m. (ET).

QUICK HITS
• The Cardinals bring a 2-0 record into the weekend following a pair of thrilling victories at Trager Stadium including a 2-1 shootout win over then-No. 10 Miami and a 2-1 overtime win against Indiana.
• Louisville is ranked No. 15 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll released on Sept. 1. The Cards moved up three spots from their preseason ranking.
• Gigi Edwards, Lauren Masters and Aubreigh Uba have each scored a goal for the Cardinals.
• Current NFHCA DI National and ACC Defensive Player of Week Emily Young has surrendered only two goals with 22 in 147:45 minutes of play for a 0.81 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
• Young posted her 100th career save in the 2-1 shootout win over then-No. 10 Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 28.
• Lauren Masters, Jaelen Perez, Gracie Potter and Annabel Sep were named to the NFHCA Collegiate Watch List.
• Sep was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team
• The 2026 Louisville field hockey co-captains are: Sophia Parker, Chloe Plumb and Emily Young
• Louisville was picked to finish eighth in the ACC preseason coaches poll.
• Louisville's Trager Stadium will also serve as the host site for the 2026 NCAA Field Hockey Championship November 20-22. It will be the seventh time that Trager Stadium will have served as the host site for event.
• In 2025, Louisville posted an 8-10 record and reached the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship which was held at Trager Stadium.
• The Cardinals return 16 letterwinners from last season including all-ACC selection Annabel Sep and USWNT U21 Team member Lauren Masters. Louisville also welcomes eight newcomers to the team. The 2026 roster also features Louisville natives Tyler Everslage, Megan Mauzy, Tatum Bohnert, Riley Guy and Reese Johnson.
• Justine Sowry is entering her 16th season at the helm. During her tenure, Sowry has guided the Cardinals to nine NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the quarterfinals in three of the last six years and reaching the semifinals in 2020. Sowry collected her 250th career win in the 6-0 victory over Bellarmine (Oct. 7).

UP NEXT
• The Cardinals will continue their four-game road stretch next weekend when they travel to Evanston, Ill., to face No. 1 Northwestern and No. 4 Iowa.

Saint Louis
Series History: Saint Louis leads 31-16
Last Meeting: August 29, 2014 – Louisville won 11-2 at home.
Scouting the Billikens: Saint Louis enters the weekend with a 0-2 record, losing to Michigan State University 3-0 and Ohio University 2-1.
• Saint Louis was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey preseason rankings with 15 points.
• Maddie Croghan leads the team in goals scored with one, while being tied for leading in shots on goal (3) with Sierra Larson.
• Head coach Laura Hurff was fully introduced in December 2025 after serving as the interim head coach during the 2025 season and leading the team to a five-win season, their fourth time accomplishing that mark in the past 20 years.
• Louisville is 9-1 against Saint Louis in their last 10 matchups, outscoring them 60-9 in that span.

Michigan State
Series History: Michigan State leads 9-8
Last Meeting: Friday August 29, 2025 – Louisville won 6-1 at home.
Scouting the Spartans: The Spartans enter the weekend with a 2-0 record. After defeating Ohio University 3-1 in their season opener, they followed that up defeating St Louis University 3-0.
• Michigan State finished the 2025 season with a 5-13 overall record, going 1-8 in Big Ten Conference play that season.
• Bianca Pizano is leading the Spartans this year in goals, scoring three which is second in the Big Ten, recording six shots on goal as well, which is tied for fourth. Goalkeeper Lola Munoz de Verger has allowed only one goal so far this season, posting a 0.857 save percentage which is third in the Big Ten.
• The Spartans are coached by Tamara Durante, her first year serving as head coach for the program.
• Louisville is 7-3 against the Spartans in their last ten meetings, outscoring them 27-16 in that span.
