
Albert Wagner Joins Men's Tennis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Albert Wagner will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2011.
"We are very excited to add a player with great potential like Albert," said U of L assistant coach Rodrigo daSilva. "He works hard on and off the court and I believe he is going to be a great fit for our team."
Wagner a native of Amberg, Germany, is ranked 16th in Germany and was ranked as high as No. 209 in the world junior rankings. He reached the semifinals of the Safina Cup in the Czech Republic and Luxembourg Open in 2009. He advanced to the finals of the Slovenian and Zilina Tennis Opens in the Slovak Republic.
In doubles, Wagner reached the semifinals of the Luxembourg Open, the Bavarian Championship, and the Slovenian Open and the Aiberlin Open in Germany. He reached the finals of the Safina Cup in the Czech Republic.
"Albert is from an area that is a hotbed of impact tennis players and he can help attract other talented players to Louisville," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Our current recruiting class without him is already ranked #16 in the country and with his addition may push it to the Top 10."
