
Stiefelmeyer and Simich will Join Men's Tennis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced the signing of two student-athletes to the 2011 freshman class. Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Chris Simich will both join the team in the fall.
"I am very happy to announce the signing of Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Chris Simich to join the team this Fall semester," said Ecarma. "Not only are Sebastian and Chris good tennis players with significant accomplishments, but they are also dedicated, hard-working, well-mannered people who will represent the University in a first-class way. I believe both will improve significantly in our system because they are very coachable and ambitious."
Stiefelmeyer joins the Cardinals from Vienna, Austria, where he was ranked the No. 1 player in his age group. He was also ranked as high as No. 67 in the World ITF Junior rankings. He was the 2010 Champion of the Oslo Indoor Championships and a finalist for the 2010 South African RVTA Junior Championships, the 2010 Radenci Championships and the 2008 Tivoli Trophy Timisoara Tournament.
Stiefelmeyer is also an accomplished doubles player, winning the 2010 Serbia Junior Open, the 2010 South African TVTA Championships and the 2009 La Vie Sport Junior Cup. Stiefelmeyer has reached many other doubles finals including the 2010 Smash International Junior Championships, the 2010 Oslo Indoor Championships, the 2010 Coffee Bowl, the 2009 City of Florence International Tournament and the 2009 SFAX ITF Juniot Tournament.
Simich hails from New Zealand there he was the No. 2 player in New Zealand Junior play. He was a finalist in the 2010 Oceania Closed Junior Championships and reached the semifinals of the 2011 Waikato Championship and 2010 Sunsmart Canterbury Championships. He was a quarterfinalist of the 2011 Sunsmart Canterbuty tournament.
In doubles play, Simich was a semifinalist of the Tennis Central Summer Championships as well as the 2011 Sunsmart Canterbury Championships and the 2009 New South Wales Championships. He also partnered up to reach the quarterfinals of the 2011 Auckland Summer Championships, the 2010 Waikato Championships and the 2010 Sunsmart Canterbury Championships.
