KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up six wins and advanced two players and a doubles team to the round of 16 on the second day of the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional Championship.
"We had a solid day," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Andrew played mentally tough and Michael gutted out two close matches. Those two guys are extremely fit so they have the advantage on physically tournament days like this. I am disappointed that Sebastian and Albert lost in close three set matches. I felt that they could have gone very deep in this tournament."
Senior Andrew Carter picked up two singles wins over players from UT-Chattanooga and Kentucky to advance to the round of 16. Freshman Michael Lippens also tallied a pair of victories over players from Middle Tennessee and Purdue to reach Saturday's round of 16.
Carter teamed with Sebastian Stiefelmeyer to defeated Tennessee's Joe Dom and Charlie Jones to reach the round of 16.
