University of Louisville junior Robert Hall and 2006 graduate Jeremy Clark captured the Weldon Open Tennis Championship in Glasgow, Ky.
The invitational tournament featured a field of eight teams. Hall and Clark opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jeff True and Will True and went on to beat Jeff Rutherford and Bruno Agostinelli 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
"I had a ton of fun over the weekend with a legend of Louisville Tennis Jeremy Clark," said Hall. "I was able to learn from him and followed his advice and it really helped me grow and get through the finals in such a tough hard-fought match. Jeremy is a great influence on me and it was fortunate that we got to team up and win this tournament."
"When you put the captain of the great 2006 team with the 2010 Big East Tournament Most Outstanding Performer special things happen," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Winning the Weldon Doubles tournament and defeating Canadian Davis Cup member, Bruno Agostinelli and his partner, is an accomplishment. Jeremy and Robert are all about championships and have great chemistry together. There are good relationships with the 2006 Big East Champs and the 2010 Champs. The 2006's have been like big brothers to the 2010's and the current guys appreciate them. I am also very proud that Stanville, Ky., native Jeremy Clark has graduated U of L Medical School. Robert Hall is from Bowling Green, Ky. It just goes to show that local players really develop and thrive at the University of Louisville."
