
Women's Golf Finishes 14th at NCAA Central Regional

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished 14th at the NCAA Central Regional on Saturday afternoon at the Outer Creek Golf Course. The Cardinals shot a 317 on the final day to finish the tournament with a score of 956. Fifth ranked Southern California won the regional with a score of 907. Arizona State finished second with a score of 915 and Purdue finished third with a score of 931.
Junior Laura Anderson led the Cardinals on the final day, carding a 73. Anderson finished tied at 16th, moving up 13 spots with a score of 231. She had a solid day making the turn at one over par. She started at the back nine making birdie on holes 10 and 11 and finished the back nine at even par. Just two players shot better than Anderson in the final round, including medalist Martina Gavier from Kent State who shot even par to win with a score of 219.
Junior Sara-Maude Juneau finished tied at 45th after shooting an 84 in the final round. Juneau finished the tournament with a score of 238. She had a rough day on the course making the turn at seven over par. She bounced back a bit on the back nine but lost strokes on the last three holes to finish five over par.
Freshman Anna-Karin Ljungstrom shot an 82 in the final round. Ljungstrom finished tied at 56th in her first NCAA Tournament with a score of 240. She struggled early on the front nine but went par on the final three holes to make the turn at five over. The back nine proved to be just as difficult for her also going five over par.
Senior Daphne Parker had her best round of the tournament shooting a 79 on th final day. Parker finished tied 85th with a score of 249. She made the turn at three over par and finished the back nine at four over.
Freshman Candice Wiley shot an 83 in the final round. Wiley moved up five spots to finish tied at 96th with a score of 253. She made the turn at five over par and then finished the back nine at six over.
The top eight teams from the three regionals advanced to the NCAA Championship in Wilmington, NC along with the top two individuals from each region.
