The 13th ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Evanston, Ill., to face No. 34 Northwestern on Sunday, March 7.
"The last time we played northwestern in 2007, we barely got out of there with a 4-3 win," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We know we've got a lot of work to do to win Sunday's match. Coach Swann is a great preparation coach and will have his team ready for us."
The Cardinals (11-3) are led by current BIG EAST Player of the Week Austen Childs. The junior from Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand, is No. 34 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings and has compiled a 16-8 overall record and a 10-2 mark as the Cards' top-seeded player. Junior Simon Childs (Hillington, England) stands in at No. 54 in the rankings with a 16-11 overall record and a 9-4 mark at No. 2.
U of L is coming off of a 5-2 loss at third ranked Ohio State. Alejandro Calligari and Viktor Maksimcuk posted singles wins for Louisville in the match.
Following Sunday's match, the Cards will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for a March 10 contest against No. 16 Virginia Tech.
