The University of Louisville lacrosse team was tied at eight with No. 14 Vanderbilt at the half but were outscored 12-5 in the second half to fall 20-13 Wednesday evening in Nashville.
Vandy, coming off an upset win over No. 9 Boston last weekend, moves to 4-3 on the year. U of L drops to 4-2.
Despite Bergan Foley's seven goals and an Emily Dashiell hat trick, the Cardinal offense stalled in the second half. Foley had five in the first half but was stymied in the second, netting two. Katie Oliverio tried to pick up the slack late in the game, netting both her goals in the second half with less than six minutes remaining. Lianne Bobal had the other goal for the Cardinals.
The Vandy offense spread the wealth with nine different Commodores scoring in the game, led by Ally Carter's four. After knotting the score at eight at the half, Vandy started the second half with an 8-1 run, putting the Cards behind for good.
U of L was outshot 34-27 in the game but was up 15-13 in shots at the half. U of L had 18 ground balls to VU's 17 but trailed in draw controls 21-14. Freshman keeper Danielle Pawliw had 11 saves but took the loss. VU's Natalie Wills went the distance for the win, making six saves.
