TULSA, Okla. - - University of Louisville senior Austen Childs fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to Stanford's third-ranked Bradley Klahn in the quarterfinals of the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championship Saturday.
The loss is the first of the season for Childs who went 3-0 in the tournament to reach the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal featured a rematch of the 2010 NCAA Singles Championship match.
"We completely changed the game plan since they last played in the finals of the NCAA tournament," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Austen executed it well and was close to finishing the match at 6-4, 4-2, but Klahn dug even deeper to win the next three games and the match. It shows how much Austen continues to improve and I am really proud of him."
