
Field Hockey Ranked Eighth in the Nation

The University of Louisville field hockey team moved up two spots to No. 8 in the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association poll released on Oct. 5. The Cards (8-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) are coming off of a 2-0 performance on the weekend, upsetting No. 5 Connecticut 3-2 in overtime and following with a 7-0 win over Saint Louis.
Louisville earned the best ranking in school history at No. 4 on Sept. 10, 2002.
The Cardinals are also among the nations team leaders, appearing at No. 4 in goals per game (4.18), and No. 5 in scoring average (3.89), and scoring margin (2.45). Senior Nicole Youman is fourth in the nation in points per game (3.18) seventh in assists per game (1.0) and tenth in goals per game (1.09). Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Conrad is 20th in the nation in goals against average.
U of L is led on offense by Youman's 35 points (12G, 11A). She also leads the league in goals points and assists. Current BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week junior Hayley Turner follows with 15 points (5G, 5A). Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Conrad (8-3) carries a 1.44 goals-against average and has 28 saves and three shutouts on the season.
Following Tuesday's game at Indiana, the Cardinals will go back on the road to face BIG EAST Conference opponent Rutgers on Oct. 9 and No. 3 Princeton on Oct. 10.
