
No. 10 Field Hockey Defeats Saint Louis 7-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville field hockey team got goals from seven different players as the tenth-ranked Cardinals defeated visiting Saint Louis 7-0 Sunday at Trager Stadium. Louisville improves to 8-3 while Saint Louis drops to 0-12.
The Cards wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with a goal from senior Nikki Auker at the 1:39 mark in the game. Louisville drew a corner and SLU goalkeeper Alex Labarge stopped senior Nicole Youman's initial shot, but Auker was there to redirect the rebound into the cage.
Midway through the first half, the Cardinals added another goal when junior Hayley Turner dribbled the ball through the Billiken defense and sent a pass to senior Simone Attles who was posted on the left side of the cage.
Turner also set up the next goal when she sent a pass to sophomore Haley Jurich who collected the ball and fired a shot into the cage, increasing the lead to 3-0.
A little over a minute later, senior Tuli Lim connected on senior Rachel Hollenbach's penalty corner feed to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead going into halftime. Louisville entered the break with a 9-0 advantage in shot and a 5-0 lead in corners.
In the second half, Louisville continued to pressure the Billiken defense and produced another goal eight minutes into the period. Youman dribbled through traffic into the circle and sent a pass to sophomore Amber Thomas who received the ball in front of the cage and delivered a shot past Labarge to make the score 5-0.
The Cards tacked on another goal when Hollenbach converted on a penalty stroke at the 62:25 mark.
Sophomore Lacey Jurich capped the scoring at 7-0 when she connected on a penalty corner assist from junior Heather Stevens with no time remaining in the game.
In the game, the Cards outshot the Billikens 26-0 and held an 18-0 advantage in corners. Sophomore Erin Conrad (8-3) notched her third shutout of the season in the win. Labarge (0-12) had two saves in the loss.
The Cardinals (8-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) will open a three-game road swing at Indiana on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m.
