
Men's Tennis Advances in USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional

LEXINGTON, Ky. - - The University of Louisville's Austen Childs and Simon Childs went undefeated to reach the singles quarterfinals while the doubles team of Austen Childs and Viktor Maksimcuk advanced to the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Saturday.
"The players are playing some of their best tennis of the semester at the right time. Our team is really showing the strength and depth of our lineup. I don't know many teams in the country with this type of complete performance," said head coach Rex Ecarma. "These players have lofty goals."
In doubles action, seniors Viktor Maksimcuk and Austen Childs teamed to beat Vanderbilt's Adam Baker and Ryan Lipman 9-7. They advance to Sunday's semifinal match, where they will face the tournament's second-seeded team of John-Patrick Smith and Tennys Sandgren.
In singles, No. 10 Austen Childs, the tournament's No. 3 seed, defeated East Tennessee's Jesus Bandres 6-0, 6-2 and Kentucky's Brad Cox 6-4, 7-5 to reach Sunday's quarterfinal match against Tennessee's Rhyne Williams. No. 63 Simon Childs beat Eastern Kentucky's Hugo Kleintovsky 6-1, 6-1 and East Tennessee's Sander Gille 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals where he will face the tournament's top-seed John-Paul Smith of Tennessee.
