The University of Louisville Cardinal volleyball team will host the No. 21-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats on Oct. 16 at 2p.m. at Cardinal Arena in a matchup of the top two teams in the BIG EAST. The Cards are coming off a successful weekend with a 3-1 victory over rival Notre Dame and 3-0 win over DePaul improving their record to 10-5 and 5-1 in the league. Cincinnati stayed perfect in the BIG EAST and hasn't lost a single set in conference play, bringing their record to (17-3, 6-0).
The Cardinals are led by freshman Emily Juhl and sophomore Lola Arslanbekova. Juhl, a native of Louisville, tied her career-high with 16 kills and added 12 digs against Notre Dame on her way to being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Arslanbekova earned her first BIG EAST Honor Roll award of the season for her double-double performance against the Irish and 11 kills in 13 chances with only one error for a .769 hitting percentage while playing in two sets against DePaul.
The No. 21 Bearcats come in on a roll and are led by senior Stephanie Niemer, who led the conference in both hitting percentage and kills over the week to become the first player in BIG EAST Conference history to claim volleyball Player of the Week honors five straight times. Cincinnati will play at Cardinal Arena for the third time this year after beating 5th-ranked Illinois and Purdue in the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge back in September.
