University of Louisville volleyball outside hitter Emily Juhl was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Oct. 11 for her performance against Notre Dame and DePaul. This marks the first time this season a Cardinal has been named Freshman of the Week by the BIG EAST in volleyball.
Juhl, a native of Louisville, Ky., posted her fourth double-double of the season on Oct. 9 during the Cardinals' upset victory over Notre Dame, ending Notre Dame's 19-match regular season conference winning streak. She tied her career-high with 16 kills while adding 12 digs. Juhl finished the match with a .406 hitting percentage. She added a team-high 11 kills to go along with seven digs against DePaul on Oct. 10. Juhl led all BIG EAST freshmen with 3.86 kills per set last week while hitting .396 and averaged 2.71 digs for the week.
Sophomore outside hitter Lola Arslanbekova picked up her first BIG EAST Honor Roll award of the season for her double-double performance against the Irish and her near double-double performance against the Blue Demons. Against the Irish, Arslanbekova picked up her fourth double-double of the season, posting 11 kills and 10 digs. She came up one dig short of a double-double against DePaul where she smashed 11 kills in 13 chances with only one error for a .769 hitting percentage while playing in two sets.
