
Field Hockey Travels to No. 5 Connecticut

The 16th-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will continue BIG EAST Conference play with a road trip to Storrs, Conn. to face the fifth-ranked Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Sophomore Hayley Turner leads the Cardinals offensively with 18 points (6G, 6A). Junior Nicole Youman follows closely with 14 points (4G, 6A).
The Cardinals (5-3, 0-1) are coming off of a 3-2 overtime win against Michigan on Sunday. In that game. Senior Kayla May's goal gave Louisville the win. Nicole Youman and Hayley Turner also scored in the game. U of L opened BIG EAST play with a 3-2 loss to No. 7 Syracuse on Friday. Haley Jurich and Youman scored in that contest.

Last Meeting: 11/8/08 UConn won 4-1 in the BIG EAST Conference semifinals Scouting the Huskies:UConn enters the week with an 8-0 record. The Huskies are led offensively by Loren Sherer's 33 points (13G, 7A). UConn has been getting the job done on both ends of the field, outscoring opponents 36-6 and holding a 0;75 goals-against average through eight games.
Cardinal Corner
Eleven different players have combined for Louisville's 31 goals so far this season - with 10 of those players scoring multiple goals. Hayley Turner leads the team in goals (6), assists (6) and points (18). Nicole Youman is second on the team with four goals and four players have three apiece.
Junior midfielder Nicole Youman is now tied for fifth on the school's career assists list with 25. She needs three more to move to fourth. Jessica Javelet holds the record for career assists with 38.

The Cards will play host to BIG EAST opponent Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m and No. 8 Michigan State Sunday at 1 p.m. The Michigan State game will be televised locally by WHAS TV. The game will be tape delayed and aired on Oct. 5 at 1:35 a.m. following the Jimmy Kimmel show.
Tough Road The Cards opened the 2009 season at No. 13 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association coaches' poll, marking the eighth straight season they have appeared in the top 20.
For the past three weeks, Louisville has remained at No. 16 while in the midst of a challenging schedule. The Cardinals have lost to No. 6 Syracuse (3-2), No. 12 Duke (3-0) and No. 17 Indiana (2-1) with several top 20 teams ahead including No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 5 Connecticut, No. 8 Michigan State, No. 13 Stanford.
