Donaldson posted a 4-1 showing in the tournament, reeling off four straight wins after dropping his first match to Vanderbilt's Andy Pulido 6-3, 3-6 (10-6). In the first consolation matchup, Donaldson was up 6-3, 5-4 and won when Creighton's James McAvoy defaulted. He then picked up a 6-2, 6-3 decision over IUPUI's Deon Schafer. In the quarterfinals, Donaldson defeated Gustavus' Patrick Clark 6-3, 6-3 to set up a 6-4, 7-5 semifinal win over Takashi Yoshi of Notre Dame.
"Even though Adam Donaldson did not get a significant amount of playing time last season, he was really improving during practice," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "This new level of play is starting to show in his first tournament."
