The University of Louisville men's tennis team moved up two spots to No. 21 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on April 28. The Cards also placed three singles players among the nation with sophomores Austen Childs at No. 28, Viktor Maksimcuk at No. 96 and Simon Childs at No. 125. The doubles team of Childs and Childs is No. 25.
"I am pleasantly surprised that we moved up from #23 to #21," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "It is going the right direction. Another first-ever achievement occurred this ranking period. For the first-time, we have three nationally ranked players at the same time. This tells you the quality of tennis they are playing and how tough our schedule was during the regular season. Having one ranked player takes a good schedule and three takes a big-time schedule. This follows up the previous ranking when we achieved a first ever in doubles having three ranked teams simultaneously."
The Cardinals (20-7) will make their sixth NCAA appearance when they travel to Illinois to face No. 32 Wisconsin on May 8.
