
LaCrosse Named BIG EAST Player of the Year

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville senior Cindy LaCrosse was named the 2009 women's golf BIG EAST Player of the Year. Louisville head coach Kelly Rothberg was named BIG EAST Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.
LaCrosse is currently ranked at No. 12 in the Golfstat Cup Standings. She was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week twice during the spring season. Her top performance of 2009 came at the Qdoba Invitational in Miami, Fla., Feb. 15-17. LaCrosse shot a 72 in the final round to take medalist honors with a score of 218 (74-72-72). She became the first Louisville player to win four tournaments in her career. LaCrosse has also set every school record for the Cardinals, including best stroke average at 71.4.
Rothberg guided the Cardinals to their third BIG EAST Championship in four years. The Cardinals are currently ranked 15th by Golfstat and 18th by Golf Week, which are both the highest rankings in school history.
In addition, Laura Anderson, Sara-Maude Juneau and Daphne Parker all joined LaCrosse as an All-BIG EAST selection.
