
Men's Golf Leads BIG EAST After Day One

LAKE JOVITA, Fla. -- - Under sunny skies in Florida,the University of Louisville men's golf is in the lead at the 2009 BIG EAST Golf Championships at Lake Jovita, Fla. on Sunday.
Louisville leads with a six-under 282 (70-70-71-71). Seton Hall is right behind in second place with a three-under 285 (69-69-73-74). The Cardinals and the Pirates are the only two teams under par. Marquette (73-73-73-73) and St. John's (71-72-73-76) are both tied for third place with a four-over 292. Host USF (72-74-74-75), DePaul (72-73-73-77) and Notre Dame (71-73-74-77) are all tied for fifth place with a seven-over 295. Rutgers is in eighth place with a 13-over 301 (74-75-76-76), while Georgetown is right behind in ninth place with a 14-over 302 (71-74-77-80). Cincinnati (16-over 304), Villanova (24-over 312) and Connecticut (36-over 324) round out the remaining team standings.
Individually, two Cardinals are currently tied for third place. Freshman Riley Wheeldon and senior Adam Hadwin both scored two-under 70 on the first day of competition. Six student-athletes currently stand tied for fifth place with a one-under 71. Sophomore Karsten Clements and freshman Justin Dorward are tied for fifth with a 1-under par 71. Freshman Connor Arendell is tied for 29th after his three-ver par 75.
