
Men's Golf Remains on Top at BIG EAST Championships

LAKE JOVITA, Fla. -- - The University of Louisville men's golf team fired a 2-under par to an 11 shot lead after two rounds of the BIG EAST Championships on Monday. Play was delayed almost an hour due to thunder and lightning in Lake Jovita, Fla.
Seniors Adam Hadwin (70-70) of Louisville and Mike Van Sickle (73-67) of Marquette are both tied for first with a four-under 140 in the men's individual standings.
On the men's side, the Cardinals remain at the top of the leaderboard with an eight-under 568 (282-286) to be the only team under-par after two rounds. Marquette moved up to second place with a three-over 579 (292-287), while Seton Hall moved to third place with a seven-over 573 (285-296). In fourth place is St. John's with a nine-over 585 (292-293), while Notre Dame sits at the No. 5 spot with an 11-over 587 (295-292). Host USF sits in sixth place with a 13-over 589 (295-294), while Georgetown is in seventh place with a 17-over 593 (302-291). Rutgers is in eighth place with a 21-over 597 (301-296), while DePaul is one stroke behind in ninth place with a 22-over 598 (297-301). Cincinnati (28-over 604), Villanova (32-over 608) and Connecticut (40-over 616) round out the remaining team standings.
Freshman Max Scodro (71-70) of Notre Dame and senior John Zur (69-72) of Seton Hall are both tied for third place with a three-under 141. The top-5 is rounded out by sophomore Karsten Clements of Louisville with a two-under 142 (71-71).
Freshman Riley Wheeldon is tied for sixth place after shooting 70-73=143, while freshman Justin Dorward is tied for 14th at 71-75=146. Connor Arendel is tied for 16th place over.
