Bloomington, Ind. - The No. 6/14 Louisville men's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday evening at Armstrong Stadium. Indiana's Darren Yeagle scored two goals in the second period to lead the Hoosiers.

The Cardinals controlled the tempo most of the first period. Louisville had their first opportunity for a shot in the 12th minute when JT Murray blasted a free kick toward the goal and IU's Luis Soffner came up with the save. IU then had a free kick in the 18th minute that went wide.

Two minutes later Colin Rolfe had a shot from 30 yards out that went just high. Senior Freddie Braun hit a shot just wide in the 23rd minute. The Cardinals best shot came in the 25th minute when Mark Knight got free on a breakaway and launched a shot just inside the box that Soffner made a jumping save towards.

The Hoosiers' best chance of the period came in the 43rd minute when Lee Hagedorn was racing toward the box and center back Phil Edginton stole the ball and knocked it out of the Cardinals' side of the field. The first period ended in a scoreless tie. Indiana finished the period with a 5-4 shot advantage while corner kicks were tied at two. Soffner finished the period with two saves while Andre Boudreaux was not tested.

Both teams came out aggressive in the second period. The Cardinals had a nice shot when Knight crossed the ball inside the box to Rolfe but the shot went just right. The Hoosiers took a1-0 lead in the 57th minute when Yeagle took a cross from Lee Hagedorn.

The next minute Rolfe beat Ofori Sarkodie to the ball getting inside the box and fired a shot that hit the right post. The Hoosiers had a free kick just outside the box in the 78th minute but Tommy Meyer's shot was high. Indiana's Will Bruin got inside the box on a breakaway in the 83rd minute and fired a shot right to Boudreaux.

Yeagle got free on a breakaway and slipped the ball just past Boudreaux in the 87th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Louisville finished the game with a 13-11 shot advantage and a 11-3 corner kick advantage. Soffner finished with two saves while Boudreaux finished with one.

Louisville finishes the season with their best record in school history at 13-3-4. Seniors Freddie Braun, Gerardo Chavez, Phil Edginton, Zach Hernan, Chase Kreger, Simeon Steward and Othaniel Yanez graduate as the most decorated class in Louisville history with three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
