Oliveira named BIG EAST Swimmer of the Week

Pedro set a school record in the 200-back.

University of Louisville freshman Pedro Oliveira used a pair of first-place finishes to help the Cardinals earn their first swimming and diving win over in-state rival Kentucky in 15 years. For his efforts, Oliveira has been named the men's BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.

After dropping 14 straight meets to Kentucky, the Cardinals ended their streak with a 178-120 win in Lexington, Ky., on Jan. 24. Oliveira led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200-fly, finishing in 1:46.91. The freshman continued his furious swimming in the 200-back, setting a school record with a win in 1:45.85.
