
Men's Tennis Travels to North Carolina State

The University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to face North Carolina State Friday at 1:30 p.m.
"We have tremendous respect for North Carolina State," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "They play in a great tennis conference and are very well coached. The last time we went there, we were ranked pretty high and they beat us 6-1. We know we have a difficult task at hand, but we're excited for the challenge We're going to unleash Austen Childs in his first dual match of the season. This team is well-prepared."
The Cardinals (2-0) opened the 2009 spring season with a pair of 7-0 wins over Duquesne and Murray State on Friday. The Cards swept all of the singles points in straight sets and won all but one doubles match.
Freshman Andrew Carter leads the team with a 15-3 overall record with sophomore Viktor Maksimcuk and Rotaru following with 12 wins each. The top-seeded duo of Childs and Childs leads all Cardinal doubles teams with a 13-3 record.
U of L is No. 45 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Team Rankings with two players among the top 100 singles rankings. Sophomores Austen Childs is No. 48 and Simon Childs is No. 66. The doubles team of senior Robert Rotaru and sophomore Alejandro Calligari steps in at No. 44.
Louisville will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to face Maryland on Sunday, Jan. 25 at noon.
