BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - Freshman Robert Hall won the Hoosier Flight as the University of Louisville men's tennis team completed play on the final day of the Hoosier Invitational Sunday.
"'I am proud of all three players, especially Robert Hall who was dominating in his division, losing only five games in his last three matches," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "He defeated IU's top freshman who looks to be one of their top starters this season. Winning a division in any college tournament is special, especially in the first tournament of you collegiate career. All the players really played fought hard, and played their hearts out. I am proud of their effort, fitness and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. When other players were retiring, defaulting and pulling out of the tournament, since you have to play eight matches in 48 hours. Our players never looked tired."
Hall defeated Indiana's Maxime Armengaud 6-3, 6-0 in the finals of the Hoosier Flight to claim the first tournament title of his career. Tim Barnoud lost a hard-fought battle to Xavier's Doug Matthews 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the back draw IU Flight. Andrew Carter defeated Indiana's Lachlan Ferguson 6-1, 6-1 in the Crimson Flight backdraw.
