
Cardinal Volleyball Travels to Chicago for Mother McAuley Invitational

The Cardinals hit the road again this weekend when they travel to Chicagoland for the Chicago Invitational hosted by Mother McAuley, a powerhouse in high school volleyball.
The Cardinals will face Illinois State on Friday. The Redbirds of ISU are 4-3, highlighted by wins against Northern Illinois, UW-Milwaukee and Western Carolina. They are led by Mallory Leggett who has 96 kills and has contributed a team-high 107 points.
The Cardinals will then play Illinois-Chicago at noon on Saturday. The Phoenix, coached by former USF head coach Nancy Mueller, arecoming off a 1-2 weekend at the Doublewood Inn Classic presented by ASICS in Fargo, North Dakota. UIC's weekend was highlighted with a three-set seep over host North Dakota State on Sept. 5.
Defending national champion Penn State then looms ahead later that evening for the Cardinals. Undefeated at 7-0, the Nittany Lions are led by Megan Hodge, who has 66 kills and Nicole Fawcett's 59 kills. Among Penn State's victims thus far: Hawai'i, UCLA and fellow BIG EAST member Villanova.
Against the Field Louisville leads the series with Illinois State at 4-3. U of L lost its only meeting with the UIC Flames and is 2-4 versus Penn State.
