The Tennis Recruiting Network has ranked the 2008-09 University of Louisville men's tennis freshman class No. 25. The incoming class consists of Andrew Carter, Adam Donaldson, Robert Hall and Sumit Gupta.
"I am happy that the recruiting gurus of tennisrecruiting.net counted our freshman classe at No. 25 in the country," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "It is always nice when others think your incoming players are good, because recruiting is the lifeblood of your program. As much as we pride ourselves in developing players, it is important to bring in a high level of talent to start off with. Sumit Gupta, Andrew Carter, Robert Hall, and Adam Donaldson will be successful Louisville Cardinals. Sumit brings a boatload of ITF World tournament experience and Andrew, Robert and Adam are all nationally ranked. Andrew was a 2007 semi-finalist in the Southern United States Junior Championships and Robert was in the quarterfinals of the same tournament."
"All of these players fit a role on our team and we are excited to have them but probably the main reason I really like this class is because they are team-first players," said Ecarma. "They do not have personal agendas other than our team winning. They are very proud to wear the red and black and will fight extremely hard for the Louisville Cardinals."
The Cardinals finished the 2008 season with a 17-8 overall record and a fourth place finish in the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
