
Three Players Earn BIG EAST Men's Soccer Honors

Louisville, Ky. - Three Louisville men's soccer players earn All-BIG EAST accolades for the 2008-09 season. Freshman Colin Rolfe became the first player in Louisville history to earn a major BIG EAST award, earning BIG EAST Rookie of the Year honors. Senior Aaron Clapham earned first team All-BIG EAST honors and sophomore defeneder Austin Berry earned second team All-BIG EAST honors.
Rolfe made an immediate impact on the Cardinals attack this season. The freshman forward is tied for first on the team with five goals and 12 points, which also includes two assists. Rolfe netted two gamewinners, had five multiple-point games and played in all but one game this season. In 10 league games, Rolfe scored two goals and added an assist for five points. He had a three-point effort, notching a goal and an assist in Louisville's 2-1 upset over then-No. 4/6 St. John's on Oct. 4, for their only regular-season loss.
Clapham becomes just the second player in Cardinal history to earn first team All-BIG EAST honors. The senior midfielder tops the league with eight assists. He is second on the team in scoring with 12 points, adding two goals. Clapham ranks third on the all-time season assist list.
Berry earned second team honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore helped the Cardinal defense to four shutouts this season. Berry ranks sixth on the team in scoring with three goals on the season. He scored the game-winning goal against Notre Dame on Sept. 28.
