
Men's Tennis Players Advance in All-America Prequalifying

TULSA, Okla. - University of Louisville tennis players freshman Austen Childs and sophomore David Simon advanced in the Prequalifying Draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
After receiving a first-round bye, Childs defeated Oklahoma's Sergey Avdeyev 6-3, 6-4. He will face Alex Dargel of Oral Roberts Sunday at 2 p.m.
Simon posted a 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 win over Texas-San Antonio's Rodrigo Morgado in the first round and went on to beat Central Florida's Johan Beigart 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the second round. He will play Samford's Jordan Delass Sunday at 4 p.m.
Simon Childs fell 7-5, 6-3 to Arizona's Peter Zimmer in the first round.
"Austen Childs won against a very good player from Oklahoma today, starting third good weekend of tennis this season," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "David Simon won two very long an grueling three-set matches back to back. He is also following up a very good showing at the Baylor Invitational. He has improved his mental toughness, quickness and physical fitness and all of the work he has put in this semester is paying off."
