LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Viktor Maksimcuk has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Cardinals in the 2007-08 season
Maksimcuk, who hails from from Subotica, Serbia, had a stellar junior career. He won the Nike Junior Masters in Hungary and captured the Montenegro Open ITF Junior Championship. He also finished in fifth place in teh Nike Junior Masters in the Bahamas.
"Viktor is 6 foot 6 inches tall and has good groundstokes," said Ecarma. "We have developed and succeeded with tennis players this tall such as Slavko Radman and Jakob Gustafsson. His skills will translate very well to indoor tennis which is very important since we play some elite tennis teams during the winter indoors. I think Viktor will be an immediate starter for us in his freshman year and he will develop into a multi-season all-conference player."
The Cardinals finished the 2007 season with a 10-15 overall record and were second in the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
