LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Robert Hall has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Cardinals in the 2008-09 season
Hall, a native of Bowling Green, Ky. (Greenwood HS) is a two-time regional champion and ranked among the top 60 juniors in the nation by tennisrecruiting.net. In 2007, he finished fourth United States Tennis Association Interscholastic Junior Tennis Championship and advanced to the semifinals of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Boys' Singles state championship and was a quarterfinalist in the Southern United States Boys 18 Championship. He was also a finalist in the Joe Creason Southern Qualifying Tournament.
"Robert Hall is a great fit for the Louisville Cardinals," said Ecarma. "To have a top 60 in the nation in-state player is rare and we aggressively went after him because I want more home-grown talent on my team who can potentially be a starter early in their career. Robert is a thinker on a court - he is always trying to exploit a weakness in his opponent. He also has a little chip on his shoulder to prove wrong people who may doubt his ability. He better not lose that chip going to U of L because I love players who shake their fist at status quo and reach for the stars. I know his game very well and am wholeheartedly confident that he will improve dramatically in our system and that he will have the best four years of his life here."
The Cards open spring dual match play on January 18 against Northwestern at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
