
Men's Golf Ties For Title at VCU

RUTHER GLEN, Va. - - The University of Louisville men's golf team and Penn State each finished at 13-under 851 to claim the co-championship of the VCU/Mattaponi Springs Intercollegiate. The teams held a one-hole playoff, but that also ended in a draw.
The Nittany Lions (288-278-285) started the day one shot behind the Cardinals (286-279-286). Charlotte (289-283-281) ended up third at 11-under 853, with Indiana (284-288-282) one shot back.
Sophomore Adam Hadwin led the Cardinals, as he finished in a tie for third-place by shooting 68-68-70=206. Junior Derek Fathauer finished fifth with 71-70-67=208.
Freshman Lewis Kirton finished in a tie for 26th after carding 72-73-74=219. Junior Andrew Freeman tied for 44th after shooting 81-68-75=224. Junior Daryl Fathauer rounded out the top five by shooting 75-76-76=227.
Dan Woltman of Wisconsin (65-70-67) claimed medalist honors with a 14-under 202. Marc Bourgeois of Kent State (68-67-70) finished second at 205, three shots behind Woltman.
