LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Kenneth Nordheim has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue his playing career with the Cardinals. He will be a freshman in the 2006-07 season.
Nordheim, a native of Oslo, Norway, is currently ranked sixth in the Norwegian Men's National Division. He won the Paradis Grand Prix and was a finalist in the Bygdo Grand Prix. Nordheim was also a U18 national finalist in 2006.
"Kenneth Nordheim is a perfect fit for our program," said Ecarma. "His work ethic is off the charts and he is hungry and driven. Adding Kenneth to a recruiting class which was ranked in the top 10 this spring helps us replace the most successful class in our program's history."
"This past senior class broke all the records and led us to our highest level nationally. They also won two major tournaments - the BIG EAST and the HEB. Kenneth has already accomplished a lot during his junior career and I believe his best days are ahead of him. With newcomers Kenneth Nordheim, David Simon, Chris Herrlinger, Morten Sivertsen and Horatiu Oltean, I feel very confident about future success."
The Cardinals finished the 2006 season with a 19-8 overall record, which includes an HEB Collegiate Team Championship, a BIG EAST Tournament Championship, and their third consecutive NCAA team tournament appearance where the Cards advanced to the regional finals. In 2006, Louisville achieved the program's highest national ranking at No. 12 and never fell out of the top 35, finishing the season ranked 26th in the nation.
