
Field Hockey's Javelet Earns Academic Honors

University of Louisville field hockey player Jessica Javelet has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV University Division Women's At-Large first team. She will be eligible for Academic All-America consideration. The district IV team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Javelet, a junior from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., carries a 4.0 GPA in marketing. She led the nation in scoring with 30 goals and 74 points. She was the 2005 BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America selection. Javelet is also a two-time All-West Region first team member and a 2005 Field Hockey Honda Award finalist. She holds the school records for career, season and single game goals and points.
Javelet earned ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-American second team honors in 2005 and is a three-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team is a part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
