
No. 17 Notre Dame Defeats Men's Tennis 5-2

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team closed the regular season with a 5-2 loss to host No. 17 ranked Notre Dame in a BIG EAST matchup Thursday at Courtney Tennis Center. The No. 29 ranked Cardinals and the Fighting Irish each finish the season with 15-7 records.
Notre Dame grabbed the doubles point to start the match. Barry King and Sheeva Parbhu teamed to defeat Louisville's No. 60 ranked team of Jhonny Berrido and Damar Johnson 8-5 at No. 2. Slavko Radman and Tony Teufel outlasted Stephen Bass and Santiago Montova 9-8 (7-5) at the No. 3 spot to even the doubles matches at 1-1. Notre Dame's No. 32 ranked duo of Ryan Keckley and Eric Langenkamp edged No. 28 Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson 9-8 (7-3) at the top seed to clinch the doubles point.
The Cardinals picked up singles wins at Nos. 3 and 4. Johnson defeated Brett Helgeson 7-5, 6-3 at the three spot and Clark beat Keckley 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
Notre Dame's Bass, who is ranked 16th in the nation defeated Radman 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. No. 31 ranked Sheeva Parbhu topped Gustafsson 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 at the two-spot. King registered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Berrido at No. 5 and Lanenkamp defeated Nicolas Houard at the No. 6 seed 6-0, 6-4.
U of L will prepare to compete in its first BIG EAST Conference Championship April 20-22 in Tampa, Fla.
