LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team has placed two doubles teams and one singles player in the Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The doubles team of Jhonny Berrido and Damar Johnson stands at No. 27, while the duo of Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson is No. 32. Slavko Radman is No. 88 in the singles rankings. The Cardinals (12-2) are enjoying their program-best team national ranking at No. 15.
Berrido, a senior from LaVega, Dominican Republic and Johnson, a junior from Steer Town, Jamaica have compiled a 12-1 record as the Cards' No. 2 seed. Seniors Clark (Stanville, Ky.) and Gustafsson (Hollviken, Sweden) fell six spots from their previous No. 26 ranking. Clark and Gustafsson are 16-6 overall and 9-3 as the Cards' top-seeded doubles team. Radman, a junior from Split, Croatia, is 12-7 overall and 8-4 in dual matches playing at No. 1 and No. 2.
"When the team ranking moves up nationally, it's because quite a few individual players are winning," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We have two doubles teams and Slavko Radman ranked nationally because they've worked extremely hard and played mentally tough tennis."
U of L will travel to Montgomery, Ala., for the Blue-Gray National Invitational March 16-19.
