The No. 14-ranked University of Louisville Volleyball team and the coaches' preseason pick to win the BIG EAST, opens its season Friday evening at the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Classic at Cardinal Arena. Wake Forest, Tennessee State and Ohio University will join last year's Sweet Sixteen participant Cardinals in the three-day tournament.
"We have three seniors and they have the three crucial positions. Lena Ustymenko and Jennifer Hoffman have played for their national teams and Jennifer Craven is a player that every coach wants on their team," said Leonid Yelin. "How those three step up to the challenge at the right time will determine how far this team can go. If they step up, then everyone else will step up. They are leaders everyday in practice, in the classroom, in game situations and, really, in every way."
Louisville will play the 7:30 match of the day Friday against against ACC rival Wake Forest following the 5 p.m. matchup of Ohio University and Tennessee State. Saturday's action starts at 11 a.m. when Wake Forest squares off against Tennessee State. Ohio U faces WFU at 5 p.m. prior to the Cardinal's matchup against TSU. The lone Sunday match will pit Louisville and Ohio University at 1 p.m.
