LOUISVILLE, KY - - The third-seeded University of Louisville men's tennis team will face fifth-seeded UAB in the 2005 Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship Friday at 8 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Louisville (19-8) is looking to extend a 40-match home win streak, which began on April 21, 2002 with a 4-2 win over (then, No. 26 ranked) TCU in the C-USA tournament. The Cards are currently ranked No. 34 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, having reached their highest program ranking at No. 24 on March 29 of this season.
The Blazers (15-5) advanced to Friday's match with a 4-0 win over twelfth-seeded Saint Louis.
"We've got our hands full with a tough UAB team," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "The Blazers have a history of being a perennial top 25 program and their head coach Derek Tarr is anxious to get them back in that position. We have prepared for two weeks for this moment and hopefully we will live up to the task. We hope people will get up early to cheer us on."
The C-USA Men's Tennis Championship is taking place April 21-24 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center and Chickasaw Park. Tickets are $15 for adult all-session passes and $5 for single day passes. Children 17 and under and students with ID are free. Please call 852-5151 for tickets.
