The University of Louisville men's tennis team achieved the program's highest national ranking, appearing at No. 26 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national team rankings released on Feb. 15. The Cards jumped 14 spots from last week's No. 40 showing after defeating No. 23 Harvard and No. 27 Clemson. Prior to this week's showing the Cards' highest ITA ranking was No. 30 on February 26, 2003.
"This is the highest ITA ranking we have achieved in U of L men's tennis program history," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We have been ranked as high as No. 18 in College Tennis Daily, but the ITA rankings are what the NCAA committee looks at. We are getting closer to our goal of being in the top 25 year in and year out. This is a tribute to this year's team for their incredible work ethic and fighting spirit - and to last year's team for starting us off with a ranking of 40."
Louisville (6-4) will travel to Bloomington to take on Indiana, Friday, February 18. The Cards will play host to Bradley at 9:00 a.m. and Southern Illinois at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
