
Fathauer Leads Cards to Third-Place Finish at UCF

Freshman Daryl Fathauer shot 4-under par to rally for a fourth-place finish at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
As a team, the Cardinals shot the second-lowest score on the afternoon to place third overall behind UCF and North Carolina-Wilmington. The Cardinals shot 872 for the three rounds, just 10 strokes off the lead.
After shooting 1-over par 73 on Monday, Fathauer, who shot 212 in three rounds, surged to the front of the pack by shooting 68-71. He missed taking medalist honors by one stroke. Andreas Hoeberg of UCF, Chris Wheeler of Tulane and Joe Deraney of Mississippi State all shot 211.
Senior Charlie Woo, who was in 62nd place after Monday, carded 78-72-70=220 to jump to into a tie for 21st place. Woo shot 2-under par on Tuesday.
Freshman Adam Rainaud tied for 30th overall, shooting 6-over par 222, while freshman Derek Fathauer was tied for 37th with 76-77-70=223.
Senior Brett Jones rounded out the top five with 75-77-73=225.
The Cardinals will compete at the Louisiana Classic on March 7-8.
