
Cards' Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at Coastal Carolina

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The University of Louisville men's golf team placed fifth at at the General Jim Hackler Invitational Presented by Active Glass & Marble, Mar. 13-14. The 54-hole event was contested at the TPC of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
Coastal Carolina's men's golf team built a 10-shot lead at the turn and held on for a five-shot victory for its second consecutive tournament team title for the first time in school history, having won the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, FL last weekend. The Chanticleers fired 304 in the final round, as scores increased an average of two strokes per individual round in the last 18 holes. CCU finished with a total of 886, five shots ahead of runner-up Notre Dame, who was just one of two teams to break 300 in the final round with a 298 and finish at 891. Purdue (895), Kansas State (900) and Louisville (901) rounded out the top five.
Freshman Derek Fathauer was tied for seventh place after carding, 77-70-73=220, while his brother Daryl and Adam Rainaud were tied for 24th with 228. Daryl shot 77-74-77=228 and Rainaud fired 74-77-77=228.
Seniors Charlie Woo (83-74-75=232) and Brett Jones (79-74-79=232) were tied for 39th.
The Cards will compete at the Arkansas Little-Rock Invitational on March 28-29.
