
Softball Edges Iowa State

Shortstop Courtney Moore smacked a two-run homer to boost the University of Louisville to a 2-1 win over Iowa State at the Courtyard Marriott East Tournament at Ulmer Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Iowa State struck first with a run in the third inning when Fallon Johnson reached second on a dropped third strike and then scored during a rundown of Julia Lindsey.
Louisville scored two in the fifth inning when Audrey Rendon reached on a fielder's choice and stole second to set up Moore's two-run homer to make it a 2-1 game.
Freshman pitcher Catherine Bishop (4-3) pitched a complete game four-hitter and struck out six to post her fourth win in seven decisions.
"Any time we can get a win over a quality program we are happy. We had some timely hitting by our freshman again came through for us," said U of L head coach Sandy Pearsall.
U of L improves to 12-6 and Iowa State drops to 2-9.
