
Women's Golf Has Record Setting Day

Tampa, Fla. - University of Louisville women's golf team had a record setting day to move from ninth to tied for third in the Beacon Woods Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals finished the day with a school record score of 282. The score was also the lowest team score of the tournament. Louisville finished the tournament with a team score of 887, tying another school record, to move from ninth place to a tie for third with host South Florida. East Carolina won the tournament with a score of 878 and Coastal Carolina finished second with a score of 883.
Sophomore Adrienne White carded a her personal best of 68 to force a playoff with Georgia State's Lizbeth Meincke for the tournament title. The playoff went three holes with both players going par on the first two holes. White won the playoff on the third hole, draining a downhill 30-footer for birdie. She finished the tournament with a score of 211, breaking the old school record of 216 formerly held by Morgan Hapney.
"We went out today like it was a one day tournament," said head coach Kelly Meyers. "We knew we could play better and we were not satisfied with our 301 yesterday. It was the first time we were not satisfied with 75's and 76's. We knew that everyone else was shooting low and we could do the same."
Senior Meghan Little shot her personal best of 68 in the final round to move from 23rd to seventh place. She tied her tournament low with a three round total of 219. Junior Elly Leonard finished the day with another personal best score of 72 to finish tied for 21st. Leonard's tournament score of 227 tied per personal best.
Sophomore Amy Yeates tied her personal best with a third round score of 74. Her final score of 233 marked a personal best for the sophomore. Sophomore Cristina Gonazalez also hit two personal bests, for her low round with a 78 and tournament score with a 239.
Freshman Jenny Calkins competed as an individual in the final round and shot a 79 for her first round of collegiate golf.
