LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville women's soccer team remained undefeated in Conference USA as they battled Tulane to a scoreless tie when two overtimes could not decide a winner Friday night at Cardinal Park.
"I thought we played well enough to win, but their keeper played great and their defenders swept two balls off the goal line," stated U of L Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
Tulane goalkeeper Megan Morey had seven saves in the match.
"I was very proud of our effort, intensity, energy and our creativity in the attacking third," Ferguson added.
Louisville(7-2-1, 2-0-1) outshot the Green Wave13-9, with an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Cards had a goal disallowed in the 51st minute when Jamie Craft was ruled offside after she buried a rebound off a Monique Gjini shot. In the second half, the Cards piled up eight shots to Tulane's(4-5-2, 2-0-1) three.
Cardinal goalkeeper Meredith Miller posted her fourth straight shutout, in as many starts and has a current scoreless streak of 411 minutes. The senior from Ohio made three saves in the match and now has 12 career shutouts, extending her school record.
Gjini paced the Cards with five shots, three of which were on goal. Fellow freshmen Jen Avila and Laura Walker each posted two shots.
The Cards will host Southern Miss(5-3-1, 1-2-0) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park. Admission is free.
