LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete in the Icy Hot/Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships Oct. 1-10.
The ITA All-American Championships include 196-singles player and 92-doubles team pre-qualifying tournaments played Friday-Sunday, which feed into 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments Oct. 4-6. The 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw takes place Oct. 7-10. The Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the third event is the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
"I am flattered that the national committee selected four of our players to participate in the All-American Championship," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "This is the biggest collegiate championship of the year almost as prestigious as the NCAA tournament itself. This is a great opportunity for Jeremy Clark, Jhonny Berrido and Octavian Nicodim to join Damar Johnson in the national singles rankings. They've prepared and worked extremely hard and deserve to succeed and hopefully we'll see that this weekend."
