Men's Tennis Signs Javier Herrera

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma announced that Javier Herrera of Mexico City, Mexico has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue his tennis career at U of L. Herrera is currently ranked No. 4 in Mexico. He participated in the Orange Bowl Junior World Championships and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Casablanca International Championships and the semifinals of the Mexican National Championships.
"Javier Herrera is a perfect blend of great athleticism and outstanding character," said Ecarma. "He is an accomplished international tennis player who will represent U of L in a first class way. He is an outstanding athlete and ambassador for the university."
The U of L men's tennis team finished the 2003 season with a 20-7 record and a third place finish in the C-USA championship. The Cardinals were ranked as high as No. 30 in the ITA rankings and closed out the season at No. 54.
