LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma announced that Damar Johnson has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue his tennis career at U of L. The Ocho Rios, Jamaica native is a member of the Jamaican National team and is ranked among the top 100 junior players in the world.
"The whole Cardinal tennis program is thrilled to add Damar Johnson to the roster," said Ecarma. "He is one of the most accomplished international players we have ever signed. He is a two-time qualifier for the Orange Bowl World Championships in Key Biscayne, Fla., one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the world. Damar is a blockbuster recruit along the lines of players such as Cody Conley and Conference USA Freshman of the Year Jhonny Berrido."
The U of L men's tennis team finished the 2003 season with a 20-7 record and a third place finish in the C-USA championship. The Cardinals were ranked as high as No. 30 in the ITA rankings and closed out the season at No. 54.
